La Jolla Plunge Bike Tour
If you’re looking for a comprehensive tour of San Diego’s most celebrated and charming neighborhoods, plus loads of outstanding views, grab a bike and come along! Your exploration commences with an exhilarating, easy 3.5 mile bicycle coast down Mt. Soledad, where expansive views of San Diego’s coastline are revealed. Then, your naturalist guide leads you through popular neighborhoods, such as La Jolla, Pacific Beach, and Mission Beach. You’ll stop to enjoy the seals at La Jolla’s seal rookery and discover varied marine life hiding in La Jolla Tide Pools. Coronado Island Bike Tours
The distinctive deep sound of a ferry boat horn signals the start of your Coronado Island discovery. Rest assured, exploring Coronado by bike offers you a most intimate way to discover this magical island. You’ll take in a fantastic view of the San Diego skyline as you sit back and enjoy a 20 minute ferry ride across the bay to Coronado. Once you arrive you’ll jump on your comfortable hybrid bike and begin your excursion. You’ll bike past charming Craftsman-style cottages on your way to the raging surf of the Pacific Ocean and dynamic ocean views. Then, you’ll push pedals to visit the absolutely impressive Hotel del Coronado, a stunning structure crafted almost 150 years ago in the Victorian beach resort style. Next, you’ll check out the Navy SEAL training operations on Silver Strand and bike past Glorietta Bay. This bay is revered as one of the most scenic parks on San Diego’s Coronado Island — you’ll surely agree as you take in expansive bay views that include the grand Coronado Bay Bridge. Guided San Diego Hiking - Torrey Pines State Reserve
Hike Bike Kayak Sports’ guides have been traversing the wilderness that surrounds San Diego for years, so they’re fully prepared to help you discover elements of the Torrey Pines wilderness you might have missed on your own. Torrey Pines State Reserve is a 2,000 acre wild stretch of land that’s hidden within San Diego’s city limits. Under the care of your guide, you’ll explore a number of the Reserve’s treasures, including spectacular cliffs, expansive ocean views, ancient beaches, wind-bent trees, and fascinating sandstone formations. A number of scenic overlooks are strategically placed (some built right at the bluff’s edge) to offer you a peek at what the early explorers must have seen centuries ago. You may even have the chance to spot amusing dolphins and the majestic gray whale as it makes its yearly migration. This hike is typically 2.5 hours long and traverses beautiful beach trails. Torrey Pines State Reserve offers 8 miles of trails, and a visitor center. Torrey Pines is home to the nation’s rarest pine tree – Pinus torreyana. Whale Watching Kayak Tour
Exploring the Pacific in search of the sea’s most magnificent mammal is an amazing opportunity; doing so in an eco-friendly kayak provides a genuinely intimate, moving experience. And no prior kayaking experience is necessary! Your quest for the transient grey whale launches from the sands of La Jolla Shores. From here, your naturalist guide will lead you near the impressive La Jolla Sea Caves, through vast kelp forests and have you paddling over the top massive underwater canyons. As you continue off-shore, you may be greeted by a collection of marine creatures, including sea lions, seals, pelicans and possibly even a pod of dolphin! But your prize, of course, is catching sight of the impressive gray whale. Sharing the water with this mammal, smelling the sea, hearing that signature splash, and absorbing the thrill of it all is enlivening. Tours are offered daily, December-March, at 9:30am and 12:30pm.
