Whale Watching
Since it's situated on the west coast of Vancouver Island, Ucluelet's whale-watching experience is different than one you may have in the more sheltered waters around Victoria or Vancouver. You have a greater chance of encountering larger species such as humpbacks and gray whales, while transient orca pods are also spotted occasionally. Porpoises, sea lions and sea otters also frequent the area. Operators offer a variety of tour options; zip around in an open Zodiac, escape the elements in a covered boat, ply the open waters of Barkley and Clayoquot Sound or do your spotting near the Broken Islands.
