From your departure point at the Colosseum, you'll ride through Circus Maximus, over to Ponte St. Angelo, past the Pantheon, and stop inside St. Ignazios church, a real hidden jewel of the city, and pass by the Roman Forum and Column of Traian. This tour departs from in front of the Colosseum at 10am, Monday-Friday. Tour lasts 3-4 hours. All in all, you'll cycle a distance of 15 kilometres. Includes guide, bicycle and entrance to the sights.

Catacomb Cycling Tour

As you leave the city via the famed Appian Way (which is closed to vehicles), you'll get to see the walls built by Marcus Aurelius almost 2,000 years ago, as well as the gates to the city. You'll then find yourself at the catacombs, ancient underground burial tombs that are home to some stunning works of Jewish and early Christian artwork from before 400AD. Ride past the Tomb of Cecilia Metella, and stop at the Spring of Santa Egeria before heading back into the city. This tour departs from in front of the Colosseum at 2pm daily except Wednesday. Tour lasts 4 hours. All in all, you'll cycle a distance of 15 kilometres. Tickets to the catacombs not included in the price. Difficulty level is suitable for young families.

Since this road has been closed to traffic for 20 years, you won't have to worry about competing with cars as you head out of the city, through the Gate of Sebastian and beyond Rome's walls. Ride out to the catacomb burial tombs, past luxurious homes, and out to the aqueducts, built centuries ago. On your way back into Rome, you'll see an old vatican outpost, the Spring of Santa Egeria, and ride through the Cafarella Valley. This tour departs from in front of the Colosseum at 2pm daily except Wednesday. Tour lasts 4 hours (3 hours of riding and 1 hour at the catacombs). All in all, you'll cycle a distance of 25 kilometres. Tickets to the catacombs not included in the price. This ride is rated medium for difficulty.

Castelli Romani Lake Cycling Tour

Ride along the ancient Appian Way and along the river towards Santa Marie delle Mole and Castle Gandolfo, a small town that boasts stunning views of Lake Albano. This is where the pope spends his summers—and where you will spend your first night. On Day Two, your group will make its way to Albano, a lake nestled in a volcanic crater. Ride along the crater's rim to find Ariccia, a town known for its porcetta, and then proceed to Nemi, another small but welcoming settlement. Then you'll ride back to Rome and through scenic Rocca di Papa before settling in at a bed and breakfast in the Vatican City for the night. This trip departs Friday afternoons. Price includes bicycle, guide, support vehicle, accommodations and breakfast. Meals other than breakfast are not included. This trip covers 100 kilometres and has some big hill climbs, so is only suitable for experienced riders.
