Ecuador Coastal Adventure
by
Barefoot Expeditions
Discover the beauty that is Ecuador's coast, without the cost associated with a trip to the Galapagos. This four-day trip includes a tour to Isla de la Plata, cycling, a visit to an archaeological site, and, of course, some great beaches. Your journey begins with a short flight from Quito to Manta, where you'll be met at the airport and escorted to your hotel. Spend the rest of your day on one of the country's most beautiful beaches, surfing, horseback riding, or just relaxing. On your second day, you'll board a boat and head to Isla de la Plata in Machalilla National Park, referred to as the "poor man's Galapagos." You'll see a wide range of sea birds and mammals, and maybe even humpback whales if you're there between June and September. Go boating, hiking and snorkeling, and enjoy lunch on the island before returning to your hotel. Day Three will be spent cycling to places such as Los Frailes beach and the indigenous village and archaeological site of Agua Blanca. Go on a guided hike of the area and visit the local museum before having lunch and heading back to your accommodation. You'll have a few hours to relax on your final day before heading back to Manta for your flight to Quito.
