Your plane lands at Hilo, Hawaii, and you’ll find your driver and guide waiting. As you leave the airport you’ll enjoy a drive through the quaint town of Hilo and along Banyan Tree Drive. You’ll note that each tree boasts a plaque stating what famous celebrity, political leader or such planted it. Next stop: serene Rainbow Falls. This nearly 100 foot wide waterfall cascades over a lava cave and pours into a sizable freshwater pool that’s encased in dense tropical fauna. Welcome to Hawaiian paradise! Then you’re off to tour Volcano National Park where you’ll experience the power of the massive Kilauea Volcano, which has been erupting steadily for about three decades. First stop is the famous Jagger Museum where you’ll learn about the volcano’s volatile past and hear what scientists have to say about its future. Next you’re off to hike the Thurston Lava Tube. Along the way you’ll pass lush fern grottos and active steam vents. Then you’ll have the chance to take a look at the stunning Kilauea Iki Crater before you take off on a hike over the 1980’s lava flow that covered Kalapana and Kaimu Black Sand Beaches.

Lava viewing conditions change daily and viewing of an active lava flow is not guaranteed. Viewing active lava flows will require hiking over rough uneven lava surfaces.

Guests who are pregnant or have asthma or other respiratory problems should not consider this tour due to potential health problems associated with exposure to fumes.

Identification for people aged 18 and over is required to board your flight. If you are a US citizen, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, will suffice. Foreign visitors will need to present a passport.

There is a no cancellation and no refund on all one-day flyaway tours. No name or date changes will be honored once booking is confirmed.
