Sahara Trekking Holiday
by
Ranch Bedouin
It sounds more like a dream than a vacation: a week of trekking through the Sahara desert on horseback, sleeping in beautiful woven tents and encountering groups of nomadic bedouins amongst the dunes. Ranch Bedouin offers an eight-day trekking holiday, departing from Douz, Tunisia, that features all this and more. Your journey begins when you are picked up in Djerba or Tozeur and taken to Douz, considered the gateway to the Sahara. After spending the night in a local hotel, you'll meet your travel group, guides, and the horses and camels you will be with for the next week and then set out on your journey. Your guide will lead the meharee on foot; don't be surprised if they sing and play instruments along the way. Your adventure will take you to serious sand dunes and beautiful oases, and give you the opportunity to meet interesting Marabouts (Muslim religious leaders) living in desert communities. You may even encounter bedouin groups and wild camels. Spend your nights sleeping in traditional tents woven out of goat hair. After six days in the desert, you will return to sleep in a Douz hotel before returning to the airport you arrived at.
Choose to ride a horse, camel, or travel on foot.
Price includes six days horse riding or camel riding, guides, five nights accommodation in authentic Bedouin tents, two nights accommodation in Douz hotels, transfer from airport to Douz, meals, mineral water, blankets and mattresses are included.
