Mae Hong Son Loop Tour

This 5-day, 4-night tour will visit real tribal villages, allowing you to witness how the local villagers live day-to-day, as well as take you to some of northern Thailand's most beautiful spots. You'll be picked up in Chaing Mai, where you'll head to the highest point in Thailand for hiking and sightseeing before arriving in the town of Mae Sariang for the night. On Day Two, you will visit nearby Lawa and Karen hilltribe villages, where you will meet your homestay family, visit a school, see a local silversmith and weaving cooperative in action, see a Buddhist temple and learn about the culture of these remote mountain villages. The next morning, you will say goodbye to your homestay family before moving on to Mae Hong Son town with its famed hilltop temple, and possibly a side trip to a nearby "Mae Aw" Chinese village near the Thailand/Myanmar border. Day Four begins with an early morning market trip (or you can opt to sleep in) before a visit to a traditional Shan village, home to a sesame farm (and many buffalo). You'll continue on to Pai, where you'll have time to enjoy dinner and check out some nightlife. After spending the night in Pai, it's time to head back to Chiang Mai. Highlights may include Doi Inthanon Mountain, Royal Pagoda, Lawa and Karen hilltribe villages, silversmithing, weaving, Mae Hong Sun, Wat Doi Kong Mu temple, Mae Aw Chinese village (depending on season), Shan village, Soppong, Fish Cave, Lod Cave, Pai and Chiang Mai. As you head out from Chiang Mai on your first day, you'll stop at a hot springs, the White Temple and the Golden Triangle, where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet, as well as Mae Sai (the most northernly point in Thailand) and the Fish and Monkey Cave before coming to Mae Salong, a village settled primarily by Chinese from Yunnan province, where you'll spend the night. The next day, you'll visit Ban Lorcha, an Akha hilltribe village, where a local guide will teach you about the Akha way of life.
