Not up for a full-day adventure? This three-hour tour is a great way to get a taste of what sea kayaking around Quadra Island has to offer. Start with a quick safety and skill lesson on the dock and then head out to explore. Your well-versed guide will show you some amazing paddling spots in the vicinity, whether it be a popular seal hangout or an island with a spectacular view. If you’re pressed for time, this a great to sample the ocean wilderness around picturesque Quadra Island.
- Quadra Island Kayaks offers complementary pick up at the Quadra Island ferry terminal.
- Tours run every day of the summer from May to September, or even October if the weather is nice.
- This tour runs from 9am-12pm or 2pm-5pm.
- Suited for all experience levels.
- Areas visited may include the Brettton Islands, Turtle Island and more.
- This area is rich with wildlife. Expect to see seals, sea lions, dolphins, porpoise and the occasional whale as well as several bird species (including eagles, herons and cormorants) and inter-tidal life such as sea urchins, sea stars, jellyfish and crabs.
- All of Quadra Island Kayaks’ guides are trained in wilderness first aid and certified with the British Columbia Sea Kayak Guides Alliance.

- Waterproof shoes (if you don’t have any, they can lend you some)

- Weather-appropriate clothing (dressing in layers is advised)
- Sun protection (hat, sunscreen and sunglasses)

Departure
Quadra Island Kayaks offers complementary pick up from the Quadra Island ferry terminal, meaning you can walk onto the ferry from Campbell River. The address listed here is for the ferry terminal in Campbell River, located downtown at 1001 Island Highway West. There is free parking available across the street at Tyee Plaza.
The ferry to Quadra Island leaves from Campbell River every hour on the half-hour. Please catch the ferry that departs just before your tour (for example, if your tour departs at 10am, you would catch the 9:30am ferry).
When you arrive on Quadra Island, look for a blue mini van that has white waves on the side and says Quadra Island Kayaks. It will be parked in the passenger pick-up zone.
If you are driving to Quadra Island, Quadra Island Kayaks’ location is at 615 Taku Road. Quadra Island is a 10-minute ferry ride from Campbell River. Once you depart from the ferry, head down Quathiaski Road until you hit Green Road and make a left. Take your first right and head down Anderson Road, which will turn into Heriot Bay Road. Make a left on W Road and continue driving for a few kilometres until you get to Heriot Bay. Turn right on Heriot Bay Road, then a quick left on Taku Road, where you’ll see Quadra Island Kayaks.
