Dinosaurs and Queen Elizabeth II: Special Exhibitions at the Royal BC Museum
by Royal BC MuseumVisit two very special, limited engagement exhibitions at the Royal BC Museum: Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries, and Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration. What did Asia look like 130 million years ago? How did dinosaurs move? What fossilized evidence do we have that dinosaurs had feathers? A visit to the RBCM's Dinosaurs exhibit will answer all these question, as well as many others. This cutting-edge exhibition uses a combination of bio-mechanical models, dioramas and fossils to show us how the scientific community believes dinosaurs looked, moved and lived. This hands-on experience was created by the American Museum of Natural History, and its stop at the RBCM is one of the first in Canada. You can also see the Queen of England as princess, monarch and mother, as captured by Cecil Beaton, the longstanding royal photographer, in this special exhibition. This five-section exhibit features nearly 100 portraits of Queen Elizabeth II throughout her reign, from her teenaged years through the 1960s. See a mixture of rare and world-famous photographs, as well as the late photographer's notes and diaries. Whether you're a Royalist or just an appreciator of fine photography, this is a unique way to mark Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee.
